Putin’s wallets bogged down in debt: Rotenberg and Timchenko empires could fall under Russian state banks’ control
Business structures belonging to Arkady and Boris Rotenberg as well as Gennady Timchenko—individuals long referred to as "Putin’s wallets"—have encountered large-scale financial problems.
According to sources, the oligarchs’ companies are unable to service their multi-billion loans: principal payments have reportedly been deferred until 2031, while interest payments have effectively ceased altogether.
Russian state banks now face a choice: either continue turning a blind eye to the debt trap of Putin’s favorites or seize their assets for debts along with multi-billion "financial holes."
For the Rotenbergs and Timchenko themselves, sources estimate that the only hope left is new budget injections. However, due to trouble in the Russian economy, it is becoming increasingly difficult for the Kremlin to save even its own "wallets."
